臺灣地球系統模式是第一個國人自行發展的氣候模式,將控制地球系統運作的物理化學方程式轉化為數百萬行的電腦程式,可模擬從過去到未來的大氣、海洋、地表、海冰的變遷,以及評估人為排放溫室氣體與氣膠對氣候的衝擊。

Taiwan Earth System Model is the first climate model developed by domestic scientists. It converts various physical and chemical equations that control the Earth system into millions of lines of computer codes. TaiESM can simulate the evolutions of the atmosphere, ocean, land, and sea ice from the past to the future. It can also assess the impact of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gasses and aerosols on climate change.
