During the Qing Dynasty, Angongdian was known as Gangzhenlin Street, located on the official road from Fengshan County to the capital city of Taiwan. In 1720, it became a commercial hub and market center. Due to the lack of standardized measurement units in Qing-era Taiwan, a public measuring container called “gong dou” was placed in the central temple of the market street in each region to facilitate transactions.
