此件陶罐為本所於十三行遺址搶救發掘時墓葬出土品，腹部捏塑出栩栩如生且安謐肅穆的人面，展現精湛的創造力與製作技術，可能有儀式性用途，為臺灣目前發現唯一一件，已被文化部指定為重要古物。
Unearthed from the rescue excavation of Shih-San-Hang site conducted by the IHP in 1990s, the belly of this vessel is modeled with a vivid human face displaying the excellent pottery-making technology and the amazing creativity of prehistoric people.
